Email templates make it easier to quickly create attractive, well-structured emails.
We provide a number of preset templates, but you can also spend time creating some personal templates for different types of emails that you regularly send.
Picking a template
When you start designing a new email, you need to pick a template to start from, even if it’s just the Blank email template.
You can go back and pick a new template once you’ve started designing your email through the Template dropdown above the email builder, however you will then need to start from scratch and lose what you’ve added to the email.
Our preset templates
We offer a number of templates, including some basic templates that you can fill in yourself:
- Blank email – a blank email with a Labour-branded header
- Event Invitation – a simple email with a picture, some text, and a single embedded event
- Newsletter – a rich email with multiple sections to pick and choose from
We also provide pre-written templates where we’ve included some text to contact members at specific important moments. Members will be receiving similar generic emails from the national party, so it’s always worth adding some relevant local details if you have time.
- New Member - an email welcoming a new member to the local party, with some space to provide details relevant for them (e.g. local party contacts, regular meeting times, social media or WhatsApp groups) and promote some upcoming events.
- In Arrears - an email reminding someone to renew their membership before it lapses.
- Lapsed – an email telling a member their membership has now lapsed, and encouraging them to rejoin at the earliest opportunity
- Resigned – an email expressing regret at a member’s resignation and encouraging them to reconsider
Creating your own templates
If you use Organise regularly, it could be useful to create your own templates for types of emails that you need to send more than once.
When designing an email, you can save the design at that point in time to use again by opening the Templates dropdown above the email builder and selecting Save New Template.
Give it a name and description, and then next every time you are writing a new email you can select this template to reload the design from the point you saved it.
This is also useful if you want to make improvements to the preset templates. Just start a new email with that template (e.g. newsletter), make any changes that you’d like (e.g. changing the header to a local party logo), and then save it as a new template.
